Well breathing is not too good today, I wonder if it might be coz I have been worrying about me mum's flu jab. She normally doesn't sit and wait like she's told to and she isn't that well herself.
Anyhow she got her jab, and mine is tentativly set for next week if I am well enough. Though the district nurse said they could do me if I weren't. She's OK but worn out and has booked to see her doctor for next week so that's a bit off my mind. Breathing might be easing now its over, but I don't know.
Foot was soaking again and I left more footprints on the carpet.
Rewrapped after a saline wash and now looks mumified. The leg didn't however look as red so that is hopeful.
that's what it was like this morning when I woke up. From the mid shin I had a tide mark and everything below it was soggy. I even left a foot print trail when I went to the bathroom.
The Nurse called to see if she needed to come - so she did.
Dosen't look so red down there now but the blisters are still there, even though the nurse keeps lancing them. In fact you can actually see them grow. Once she takes of the dressing, blisters pop up in real time, like an inflating bouncy castle. So today I have big pads of absorbent pink foam as well as surgipads amongst my dressings.
I think the swelling may have gone down a bit as there is now some fleshy wobbles in the thigh whereas before it was tight.
I wonder if it might be down to the physalis I've been munching. Apparently they are a duiretic, although I only ordered them this week on a whim as I hadn't had any for years (to be honest I had forgetten how much I liked them - just wish they weren't so expensive)
I woke at 4:20 this morning with a very tight chest but my reliever took care of it in about 10 minutes and I dropped back to sleep. A bit breathless still but still hopeful for improvement with the meds.
Well that's all for today-no morning sickness yet LOL
Well I rcvd a reminder to renew Foolsparadox.co.uk from Nominet, cc'd into my old host. It was nice to get a reminder as I hadn't had a first notification and the renewal date had just passed. Still got onto Supanames, my current host, and I had confirmation back within a couple of hours (after the 4 automatic 'we have your request, here is your ref no' emails) that it had been sorted. Not being doubting you understand, but I checked and it has been updated.
Yesterday I wasn't feeling my best but I did have a nice surprise. I got a parcel from Moonwise with some freebies as they used another four of my poems in the 2007 diary: Concrete and Clay, Of my gods, The World Turns and The Green Temple.
Breathing still no better and leg still swollen, but GP on me books tomorrow.
My right leg is twice the size of my left and rather painful to bend. As such I am sitting with it raised and taking paracetamol to help with the discomfort. The are no increases to red areas and it isn't hot so the gods only know what is going on. I'm almost hoping that the leg will start leaking again in the hope it might start to shrink.
I had a reasonable night. No attacks but I was awake from 3am till 4.30am reading as I just couldn't sleep. I'm still pretty much out of breath and going to the loo takes it right out of me (which is a big pity as that is something that could work towards reducing the swelling) but I think I might be a fraction better and I hoping that 3 days (today and the weekend) rest will put me in a position to make it to the surgery (otherwise GP will have to come to me). Mind you I don't know if I'll be able to walk in a straight line – I might end up walking in a circle around the tree trunk descending from my right trouser leg (if I can get me shorts on that is. Eek this could be embarrassing!!)
Still as I said I do feel a bit better in myself and have just eaten a really nice dinner. Its the first proper meal I've had this week, all I had yesterday were a couple of boiled eggs. But today we had chicken chasseur courtesy of one of the powered casserole mixes. I don't normally go for things like that as I prefer to start from scratch but it were very nice and although I couldn't finish all the chicken, the sauce was another matter...
I must admit that I'm getting a nice warm buzz every time I see an advert for Doctor Who action figures and toys, I just wish that they'd been around when I was a kid (yes I did have the Denys Fisher Doctor and TARDIS, though I tend to agree with the rumours that the doll was styled on Gareth Hunt and not Tom Baker) and I will admit to having picked up a couple (latest being Capt Jack – and yes he is very flexible ) but the buzz is still something to experience. Likewise is the buzz of seeing the show pick up three more awards at the NTA this week. I wonder if Freema will emulate Billie next year?
Of course what I'm not looking forward to is all the fireworks this weekend, not only for the noise and interference they cause but also the pollution which could worsen my breathing. That said I am a staunch supporter of cultural traditions – I just wish they did smoke free fireworks.
Oh and something I meant to comment on t'other day. In daytime soap 'Doctors' (set in a group practice that always has appointments when needed (both before or after surgery hours)and where Doctors will drop everything to do a home visit if they get a phone call- I wish!!) Donna (snooty jobsworth receptionist) didn't want to go to a Halloween party because it was a 'Pagan celebration of the dead' but Dr Jimmi (young, Welsh, separated from his much older wife (Emma Samms) afflicted with OCDs due to a abusive father) turned round and said that 'Paganism was concerned with nature and the seasons, and wasn't much unlike the Hindu concept of the wheel of life'. Well maybe not an all inclusive description but bravo for Doctors for taking the chance to challenge 'popular' views.
I had another asthma attack last night at 12:30. This time my reliever did bring it back under control so I have booked an appointment with GP for Monday.
DN has been and it seems that my nice newly healed right leg is now swollen and is considerably larger than the left. Its also red and swolen on the foot and the thigh is also swolen and uncomfortable.
I have several red patches which could be cellulitis but they aren't hot so we're puzzled. Something else to show GP on Monday.
Well I held my Samhain ritual last night. It was a little compromised as I am forced to do it in the living room sitting at a table, using a battery operated tea light and toasting in cider with a maryland cookie. Still the intent was there and that is what makes it real.
My mother sat in for the first time and she told me that when I named those who I hold dear that have already passed it brought a tear to her eye.
Now a question - Why do store packers think that wrapping a box of eggs in a second placcy bag will protect them during delivery?
(they did arrive OK this time, but its not a guarantee from previous experience)
A happy and peaceful Samhain to all my Pagan friends and a happy and peaceful Hallowe'en to my Christian friends.
People who don't know the difference probably aren't friends but just in case happy October 31st to you.
1 leg still dry
Chest still wheezy
One of my legs has healed!!!
My right leg is now dry and healed over. The left leg is still leaking though but much reduced so it might be healed up too soon.
So thats one leg with full dressings and the other with just a stocking to protect the skin.
Now this is great news.
I've been here before. My left leg has dried up 3 times before this year and before that both legs were dry for a couple of months.
Now this means I get to cream my leg and keep it clean myself while the nurses will just take a quick shufti when they are here.
So now the wait begins... how long until I start leaking again....
